In their quest to perfect the contemporary executive office chair, Ray and Charles Eames pursued two parallel paths within their designs – lightweight on one hand and luxurious on the other. The EA 219 from 1969 is where those two paths cross and, to our mind, represents the ideal compromise.
Featuring a lightweight aluminium frame with traditional, soft, leather padding, it feels completely comfortable from the moment you first take seat. Of course, it looks superb too – smart and minimal but also inviting and clearly carefully crafted. This is why it works superbly in almost any office environment – from the spare bedroom of your home to the plushest corporate surroundings. A low backed version, the EA217 is also available.
